Why does my customer see “No shipping rates available for this address”?
The message means no rate in your setup covers this customer's address and their whole cart. Most of the time other customers check out fine, so the cause is specific to this one.
Start from what this customer has that others don't
Ask for, or look up in the abandoned checkout, three things:
- Country and region: is it in a zone of every profile their products belong to? Region-level zones (states, provinces) are the usual miss: a zone can list a country but leave out some of its regions.
- Cart weight and value: is it above your top weight or price band, or below your first one?
- Products: is one of them in a custom profile that doesn't ship to that country?
Common one-off causes
- A remote region or an island missing from a zone, or excluded by a carrier.
- One heavy or bulky item that pushes the cart past the top weight band, or that the carrier won't quote.
- A product in a custom profile (for example “oversized” or “fragile”) that covers fewer countries than your general profile.
- A P.O. box or an address the carrier rejects, with live carrier rates.
Fix and confirm
- Fix the zone, band or profile.
- Ask the customer to start a new checkout, or test one yourself with the same country and cart. An old checkout can keep its old result.
Find the next one before a customer does
Gapscout is a read-only app. It checks every product against every country and cart size in your setup, and lists the ones that get no rate, so the next customer doesn't hit this message. It never edits your settings. See Gapscout on the Shopify App Store.
